Company Whose Chinese CEO Was Deported for Racist Comments Apologizes to Kenyans
Sonlink K. Limited, the company whose Chief Executive Officer (CEO) was last week deported to China by immigration authorities on grounds of racism has apologized to Kenyans.
Liu Jiaqi, a Chinese national was kicked out of the country after a video of him referring to Kenyans as monkeys and insulting President Uhuru Kenyatta went viral on social media.
In a statement, Sonlink said it learnt about the video in June and had since issued an apology in writing to its workers and subjected the racist CEO to internal disciplinary measures.
"Liu Jiaqi was asked to give personal and public written apologies to all Kenyan staff in our workstation," said the company head Troy Guo said.
Guo also said the firm held a reconciliation party in a bid to restore good working relationship between the Chinese workers and their Kenyan counterparts.
"Sonlink has strived to foster harmonious working relations. Sonlink Limited wishes to sincerely apologise to the Kenyan people for the utterances made in the video clip," Guo said.
The company further clarified that Jiaqi's utterances captured in the clip are personal and do not represent the position of Sonlink Limited. The company sells motorcycles along the Northern Bypass in Ruiru, Kiambu County.
