Top politicians are among individuals affected by the latest revocation of thousands of title deeds across the country by the National Lands Commission (NLC).

Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader Musalia Mudavadi, Kisii Senator Sam Ongeri and Kasarani Member of Parliament John Njoroge are among the people whose titles have been cancelled.

In a gazette notice issued on Tuesday, NLC said the decision to revoke the title deeds came after complaints lodged by National Government, County Governments and members of the public.

“Where the order calls for revocation, the Chief Land Registrar is thereby directed to revoke as per Section 14(5) of the National Land Commission Act and attendant laws,” the notice reads.

NLC quashed Kakamega Municipality Block III/85 title deed listed under ownership of Mudavadi and was reverted to Kakamega Golf Club.

“Title/Grant in favour of Hon. Moses Mudavadi revoked. Property to vest in Kakamega Golf Course/ Club,” the Gazette notice reads.

NLC also revoked title deed LR No. 209/13539/129 in Nairobi belonging to Mudavadi on grounds that the parcel reserved for County Government Housing was illegally allocated to him.

The agency further invalidated title deeds for 151 people who had been allocated land in Karura Forest. In Kisii, Kisii Municipality Block III/258 allocated to Kisii Senator prof Sam Ongeri was revoked and reinstated to Kisii County for setting up of a public market.

“Title/Grant in favour of Samson Kegengo Ongeri revoked. The parcel of land reinstated to the County Government of Kisii for establishment of a Municipal Market and/or Market Yard,” the notice also reads.

Kasarani MP John Njoroge had title deed L.R 8469/4/2 cancelled. Other notable individuals affected include former Principal Secretary Mohamed Isahakia and former Criminal Investigations Department (CID) director Noah Arap Too.
