Migori Governor Obado to Spend the Weekend Behind Bars over Sharon Otieno’s Murder

John Wanjohi Sep 21, 2018

Migori Governor Okoth Obado is reportedly set to spend the weekend in police cells after he was arrested on Friday morning over the murder of University student Sharon Otieno.

Citizen TV reports that the Governor will be held at Gigiri Police Station awaiting arraignment in court on Monday where he will be charged over the killing of the 26-year-old.

Obado was questioned for several hours at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters in Nairobi on Friday morning following the arrest.

He was apprehended a day after DNA tests revealed that he fathered the seven-month-old unborn baby boy who was in Sharon's womb before she was brutally murdered.

"There are 99.99+% more chances that Zacharia Okoth Obado is the biological father of the donor of the DNA generated from the foetus that is Sharon Otieno’s child,” the DNA statement reads as quoted by Daily Nation.

Last week, Obado confirmed that he was in a love relationship with Sharon but denied any involvement in her killing.

“As a law abiding citizen, I want to state here very clearly that I have nothing… and absolutely nothing… to do with the cruel death of Sharon,” stated the embattled Governor during a press address last Wednesday.

The victim was stabbed eight times and succumbed to excessive bleeding, an autopsy report revealed. Sharon's family has vowed not to bury her until the perpetrators of the crime are brought to book.
