The Catholic Church has reportedly suspended a Kenyan priest who is accused of hosting sex parties for young girls at his house.

The priest, who was attached to Kambaa Parish in Githunguri, Kiambu County, has been luring young women to his house for sexual engagements, Daily Nation reports.

He is also said to have organized night parties for the girls at his residence located within the church where they would be served with alcohol as well outings in expensive hotels where he would swim with them while naked. “He would take them to big hotels where he would swim while naked. Very immoral,” a parent whose daughter is a victim claimed.

Father James Mungai, a dean in Githunguri, confirmed the claims to Daily Nation on Sunday, saying that the priest has since been suspended pending investigations into the allegations.

Area chief Stephen Mwaniki, who is a member of the church, said he was aware of the allegations leveled against the the clergyman although he pointed out that none of the several cases had been reported to his his office.

“A priest’s residence is supposed to be a sacred place and should be respected. It is unfortunate that this priest had turned it into a place to satisfy his lust,” an elder who declined to be named told Nation.

He is also accused of helping victims procure abortions whenever they fell pregnant. In one incident, the priest reportedly gave Sh40,000 for the purpose.

The priest has allegedly been taken to John Paul II, a correction center for wayward Catholic priests in Murang’a.

Another parent said her daughter returned home while drunk after going to the church and she was also bleeding.

“My daughter had not told us what the problem was, perhaps out of fear. At Githunguri, she was admitted and I paid a bill of over Sh12,000,” the parent said adding that she later learnt that her daughter had procured an abortion with the help of the priest.

“I would have boldly followed up this matter but my spouse is against it because it may cause bad blood between us and other church members,” the parent said.
