Police in Nairobi on Sunday morning gunned down six suspected robbers after the gang raped a woman and robbed a motorcycle rider.

Police say the boda boda rider was heading to Lucky Summer estate after picking the woman at Riverside area when a gang of five men armed with firearms ambushed them.

The criminals stole valuables from the two including their mobile phones, handbag and cash.

They then blindfolded the motorbike rider and gang raped the woman before using the motorcycle, which had a tracking system, to escape.

“A report was made and police officers moved fast and with the help of personnel from a tracking company that had fitted a gadget on the said motor cycle located it near Gitwamba sharp corner within Dandora,” says police in a statement.

Police tracked the gangsters to Dandora estate where a shootout ensured, leading to the killing of the six.

The officers recovered three loaded home-made pistols, several rounds of ammunition and all the items the gangsters had stolen from the two.

“The motorcycle and fallen gangsters have been positively identified by one of the victims,” says police.

The woman is currently admitted at MSF hospital where she is being treated.
