NGO Officials Arrested for Allegedly Recruiting Kenyan Youth into Homosexuality

Police have arrested two officials working for a Mombasa-based NGO for allegedly recruiting youth into homosexuality.

The two have been arrested after police officers who were acting on a tip-off from members of the public raided the lobby group's offices in Mombasa. 

Police say they received information that the NGO has secretly been luring young girls and boys into the gay community.

“We received reports that they are recruiting youth to join the community,” a police officer told Nairobi News.

The two were taken to Makupa Police Station where they were questioned for several hours before they were set free.

“We received complaints from members of the public about the activities of the organization. We raided and nabbed some of its staff for questioning,” the officer attached to Makupa Police Station adds.

This comes amid reports of increased cases of homosexuality in Nairobi and Mombasa Counties. Homosexuality is illegal in Kenya with offenders risking a jail sentence of up to 14 years.
