MP Naisula Lesuuda, Senator Sakaja Listed Among World's Top 100 Influential Young Leaders

Two Kenyan politicians have made it to the list of world's top 100 most influential young leaders in 2018.

The two, Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja and Samburu Member of Parliament Naisula Lesuuda, have been named in the world’s top 100 most influential young leaders' list compiled by a London-based global policy platform, Apolitical.

The organization says the two are among world leaders aged 35 and below who are impacting positive change in society.

“They are at the center of policy-making who are exerting influence on the international stage. But we also shine the spotlight on those quietly transforming the face of government at the local or national level,” says Apolitical.

Sakaja was nominated to Parliament in 2013 at the age of 27 having successfully led former President Kenyatta's TNA party as its Secretary General.

In 2017, Sakaja won the Nairobi senatorial seat on a Jubilee Party ticket and his stand on issues has earned him accolades.

On the other hand, Lesuuda has become one of the most admired young female leaders in the country, having ditched her career as a journalist to preach peace among the pastoralist communities who were constantly at war.

She was also nominated to Parliament through TNA in 2013 before winning the Samburu West parliamentary seat on a Kanu ticket during last year's elections.
