Kenyans Online React as Inspector General Joseph Boinnet Dons New Police Uniform Ahead of Official Launch
Kenyans online have once again dismissed as 'ugly' the new police uniform set to be officially launched during this year's Jamhuri Day Celebrations on December 12th.
This comes after photos of Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet wearing the new uniform surfaced on social media.
In the photos posted on the National Police Service (NPS) Twitter handle, Boinnet is seen posing in the persian-blue shirt and trousers of the same color while seated behind his desk.
Kenyans on Twitter were quick to give their opinions about the new police gear whose prototype was unveiled by President Kenyatta in September.
@eric_lilies says: "The ugly uniform I have ever seen."
@MrDavidMwangi tweets: "How SAD. Yaani, Kenyans Said NO to this uniform and the NPS did not Listen."
@joemboko writes: "It's very ugly, i like the current uniform."
@ArapWalta notes:" That uniform is damn ugly."
@BMueni comments: "Horrible please go hide yourself,"
The police boss said the tender for manufacture of the new uniforms was awarded to the National Youth Service (NYS).
President Uhuru said the change of the uniform color from the current navy blue and jungle-green colors is meant to achieve “more visibility”.
