Martha Karua Reacts to Calls of being Governor Kivutha Kibwana's 2022 Running Mate
Narc Kenya party leader Martha Karua has reacted to calls by a section of Kenyans online to be Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana's running mate during 2022 presidential contest.
Some online users say the two would form a formidable team given their firm stand on issues, proven track records and the fact that they have never been mentioned in any corruption scandals.
"If and when you (Kibwana) decide to run this country as the next president with Martha Karua as your able deputy, you are assured of my vote by 4 AM of the voting day," one online user, Peter Muiruri says.
He adds: "Kenyans will support your presidency bid overwhelmingly Governor. You lead as others watch!"
Responding to the calls, Karua has questioned why a woman has to be the deputy, although she says she respects Prof Kibwana.
"I have a lot of respect for Governor Kibwana and his leadership ability but kindly note that deputy is not a woman's first name," Karua says in a tweet.
"My dad and mum co-chair the family and to be honest women do more for the family without demanding any title," she adds.
Karua run for Presidency in 2013 and was seventh behind Uhuru Kenyatta, Raila Odinga, Musalia Mudavadi, Peter Kenneth and Abduba Dida. She garnered slightly above 40,000 votes.
