Nephew Wants Kisumu Governor Anyang Nyong'o Jailed for Contempt in Sh200 Million Family Estate Row

Kisumu Governor Anyang Nyong’o's nephew has made an application seeking to have the politician jailed for contempt.

Kennedy Odhiambo Okuthe says Governor Nyong'o and his sister Risper Nyagoy should be jailed for disregarding High Court orders in a row involving the family's multi-million-shilling estate.

Last month, the court ordered the two to include their nephews and nieces as beneficiaries of their father Hesbon Shimei Nyong’o Sh200 million estate.

Okuthe says Nyong'o and Nyagoy have disregarded the orders and should, therefore, be jailed for six months for contempt.

This comes even as Nyagoy on Wednesday withdrew an application filed at the Appeals Court seeking to have the orders issued by the High Court suspended.

The Sh200 million estate includes 100-acre land in Miwani, flats along Jogoo Road in Nairobi and parcels of land in Manyatta, Tamu, Milimani estate and East Rata in Kisumu County among others.

In his ruling last month, High Court Justice Tripsisa Cherere also revoked the administrative letters that placed Governor Nyong’o and Nyagoy as the sole controllers of the property and appointed Okuthe as a co-administrator of the estate.
