Foreign Affairs PS Ambassador Macharia Kamau Laments over Loud Music Outside His Beach House
Foreign Affairs Principal Secretary Ambassador Macharia Kamau has taken to social media to lament about loud music near his beach house in Diani, Kwale County.
In a series of tweets, Macharia says his family is unable to enjoy the holiday and has had sleepless nights due to loud music coming from a music festival held at the Diani Beach Club, few meters from his home.
He says efforts to have local authorities stop the loud music have been unsuccessful since no action has been taken.
"Experiencing holiday from hell! I arrived at the erstwhile serenely quiet Galu beach to find Kwale County has licensed high decibel music festival right outside my bedroom window. My family and neighbors have not slept a wink in two days," he laments in a tweet.
"I have called police HQ, regional and county authorities and Ukunda and I have also called NEMA to no avail. Shameful! Faceless authorities authorized festival of 1600 people in a neighborhood house meant for 10 or 12 people with horrifically loud music and drunken ruckus and all claim inability to act to contain the situation. Rumor has it that this affront is calculated to run owners off the beach," Kamau adds.
He claims there is a scheme to drive out property owners along the serene part of the Kenyan coast by making the place 'inhabitable.'
"Rumour has it that this affront with Mombasa, Kwale and Russian elements calculated to run owners off this pristine and serene part of the Kenyan coast by drawing in drug and drunken elements to the section of coast. This so-called club has to go," he alleges.
"Corruption comes in all guises and with amazing and brazen arrogance. Interconnected with local and national authorities and drawing on international criminal elements and networks."
The Diani Beach Club, where the noise is coming from, is one of the most popular entertainment joints in the coastal region.
