DP William Ruto Not Fit to Be Kenya's President, Jubilee Vice-Chair David Murathe Says

John Wanjohi Jan 02, 2019

Jubilee Party Vice-Chairperson David Murathe now says that Deputy President William Ruto is not fit to be Kenya's 5th President.

Murathe, a close ally of President Kenyatta maintains that Ruto should exit the political stage together with Kenyatta in 2022.

He, however, notes that he will back Ruto should he clinch Jubilee party's ticket to run for Presidency in 2022.

“You can see what this man (Ruto) can do with the little time he has been given. It will be bad if he is given the seat. He should first convince delegates to endorse him as flag bearer. If he wins, I will support him,” Murathe says as quoted by the Star.

“He (Ruto) had a mandate with the president for 10 years and now he wants another 10 as a president. It’s not tenable.”

Murathe further declares that blackmails by Ruto's lieutenants will not make him change his position on the Deputy President's 2022 presidential bid.

"These people (Ruto and allies) should stop blackmailing me. I will not change my position. As a leader, I am here to serve Kenyans and not individuals with selfish interests."

“Leading a country is not easy. We want a person who will take over from where Uhuru shall leave and continue with the transformation agenda,” he adds.

His latest remarks come a week after he said that the ruling party and the Kikuyu community have no agreement with Ruto to support his 2022 bid for Presidency.

"We have no MoU with anyone that we will support them in 2022. If he has any deal with Uhuru Kenyatta, then that is an agreement between the two of them,” said Murathe referring to Ruto.

“We Mt. Kenya community don’t have an agreement with DP to support him in 2022 unless it was between him and President Uhuru Kenyatta, he should prepare to go home,” added Murathe.
