Resign if You're Tired of Leading Kenya, Bahati MP Kimani Ngunjiri Tells President Kenyatta

John Wanjohi Jan 06, 2019

Bahati Member of Parliament Kimani Ngunjiri has told President Kenyatta to resign and allow Kenyans to elect a new President if he's tired of leading the country.

Speaking during a media briefing on Sunday, Ngunjiri says President Kenyatta should take charge and tame individuals such as Jubilee Party vice-chairperson David Murathe, who are dividing the country.

“If Mr. Kenyatta is tired of leading this country he should immediately call for fresh elections so that we can end this political rumor-mongering,” says Ngunjiri.

“If the president has joined ODM, please let him defect and go to ODM.”

He says President Uhuru will leave no legacy if he continues to remain silent as Murathe and company tears the country apart. He has also demanded fresh Jubilee party elections to oust Murathe and other rogue officials.

"Jubilee is not owned by a single individual and that is why I am now demanding for fresh party elections".

He adds: "Mr. President, you’re going to leave behind a bad legacy if you leave the likes of Murathe to spew toxic statements that will divide Kenyans just as end your second term."

Ngunjiri has also hit out at Kenyatta for allowing people to attack Deputy President William Ruto, who he says helped him ascend to power.

“The DP spearheaded the campaign in Rift Valley which saw Mr. Kenyatta get overwhelming support. Mr. Kenyatta should support his deputy because had it not been for his support, he would not have won the seat,” says Ngunjiri.

“It is President Kenyatta who started the 2022 succession talks during the last elections when he urged Jubilee supporters to support him for 10 years and then support Mr. Ruto for the next 10."

He also accuses President Uhuru of neglecting his people, stating that members of the Kikuyu community continue to suffer under Kenyatta's regime.

“People in the Jua Kali sector in Nairobi and saw millers in Nakuru and other parts of Rift Valley are crying. This government has not economically and politically helped members of the Kikuyu community to prosper."
