Kenyan Passport Ranked Africa's Eighth Most Powerful, 72nd Globally

The Kenyan passport has been ranked as the eighth most powerful in Africa in 2019.

The Henley & Partners Passport Index shows that a holder of a Kenyan passport is able to travel visa-free to 71 different destinations across the world.

Seychelles has the most powerful passport in Africa with visa-free access to 151 destinations, followed by Mauritius (145), South Africa (101), Botswana (82), Namibia (75), Lesotho (74), Swaziland (72); Kenya and Malawi (71); Tanzania, and Zambia (68) and, Tunisia (66).

Globally, Kenya’s passport is ranked 72nd, alongside that of Indonesia.

Japan has the most powerful passport in the world, allowing holders access to 190 global destinations visa-free.

Coming in second are Singapore and South Korea passport with free travel to 189 destinations, followed by France and Germany (188); Denmark, Finland, Italy, Sweden (187), Luxembourg and Spain (186).

Austria, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Switzerland, United Kingdom and United States (185); Belgium, Canada, Greece and Ireland (184), Czech Republic (183), Malta (182) and, Australia, Iceland and New Zealand (181) close the list of top 10 most powerful passports in the world.
