Deputy President William Ruto has gifted newly installed Kisumu Catholic Diocese archbishop Rev. Philip Anyolo with a brand new car worth millions of shillings.

Ruto has presented the Mitsubishi Pajero to Rev. Anyolo shortly after he was installed as the new Kisumu archbishop during a ceremony held at Uzima College grounds in the lakeside city.

“I would like to thank the President for accepting to contribute in this noble course and enabling us to raise the funds to purchase this vehicle,” Ruto said while handing the car to Anyolo.

Anyolo, who doubles up as the chairperson of the Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops (KCCB), takes over from Archbishop Zacchaeus Okoth who is retiring after being in the helm in the past 50 years.

The clergyman has also received another brand new Toyota V8 from Kisumu congregants.

Other leaders present during his installation include Opposition leader Raila Odinga, Cabinet Secretaries Eugene Wamalwa (Devolution) and Raychelle Omamo (Defence) and Governors Anyang’ Nyong’o (Kisumu) and Wycliffe Wangamati (Bungoma).

Others are MPs Chris Wamalwa (Kiminini) and Otiende Amolo (Rarieda); Senators Moses Kajwang (Homa Bay) and Moses Wetang'ula (Bungoma).
