Detectives have arrested the wife of suicide bomber Mahir Khalid Rizik, who blew himself up during Tuesday's terror attack at DusitD2 complex along 14 Riverside Drive in Nairobi.

Sahaila Mwinyi has been apprehended in Barakani, Mombasa on Saturday and is set to be driven to Nairobi for questioning.

Police have also arrested Rizik’s father in Mombasa's Majengo estate.

Riziki, 25, was allegedly recruited and radicalized by an Al-Shabaab fighter named Ramadhan Hamisi, who is currently in Somalia.

Hamisi is said to have met Riziki at Musa Mosque in Mombasa, where he was attending his daily prayers, before recruiting him into the Somalia-based Islamic terrorist organization.

Authorities say Riziki has previously been involved in attacks that mainly targeted police officers and had traveled to Somalia before returning to the country to execute the attack.

CCTV footage from the scene of the attack shows Rizik walking along a pavement outside Secret Gardens while on a phone call before blowing himself up seconds later.

He is reported to have arrived at DusitD2 complex earlier than his colleagues and was constantly receiving instructions from prime suspect, Ali Gichunge through a phone.

The attack, which Al-Shabaab has claimed responsibility for citing US President Donald Trump's decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israeli's capital, left 21 people dead and several others injured.
