John Wanjohi Jan 20, 2019

Two people suspected to be terrorists are in custody at a police station in Garissa after they tried to sneak into Kenya from Somalia.

The two identified as Aden Hassan Mohammed, 22, and Ibrahim Ali Guyo, 19 were arrested after a brave taxi driver drove them into an Administration Police camp in Garissa.

The driver says the two boarded his taxi at Hoosingo area in Somalia and claimed to be traveling to Hamey but later instructed him to take them to Hagadera in Kenya.

However, the driver (name withheld for security reasons) drove them into the police camp after suspecting that they were criminals.

β€œOn reaching Hamey they changed and said they wanted to go to Hagadera in Kenya and instructed the driver not to pass through the main road. The driver sensed danger and on reaching Alnjugur he drove into the Administration Police camp,” reads a report referred from Occurrence Book number OB 33/18/1/2018.

When ransacked, the two suspects were found with a Marakov Zeska pistol, 15 rounds of ammunition and a white powdery substance.

β€œA search was conducted and a Ceska pistol loaded with 15 bullets, a Makarov pistol loaded with eight bullets and whitish powder were recovered,” the report adds.

Their arrest comes days after January 15th terror attack in Nairobi that claimed the lives of 21 people.
