MP Moses Kuria Calls for the Arrest of Mike Sonko, Ferdinand Waititu for Smoking Bhang
Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria has called for the arrest of Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko and his Kiambu counterpart Ferdinand Waititu.
Kuria says the two should be arrested following Sonko's confession that he and Waititu used to smoke marijuana when they served as Members of Parliament.
Taking to social media, Kuria has questioned why the two have not been summoned to record statements with the anti-narcotics police.
"IG Joseph Boinett is yet to ask the two governors to record a statement with anti-narcotics unit. Or maybe Parliamentary immunity includes drugs and murder? What message are we sending? Really!!” Kuria says.
He has also threatened to protest the arrest of youths from his constituency for being in possession of the drug substance if no action is taken against Sonko and Waititu.
"From today no youth from my constituency will be arrested for suspicion of possessing bhangi. Sonko has shown us the way," Kuria vows.
Speaking during an interview with Citizen TV's Jeff Koinange on Wednesday, Sonko said Waititu and himself used to smoke bhang in one of the toilets in Parliament.
“Waititu smokes a lot of bhang and is still smoking as the governor of Kiambu. I used to smoke with him when we were MPs but I stopped. He used to hide it in socks and smoking in the toilet,” he said.
