Martha Karua Prefers Raila as Kenya's Next President over Deputy President William Ruto
Narc-Kenya party leader Martha Karua says she would choose Opposition leader Raila Odinga over Deputy President William Ruto as Kenya's next President.
Speaking during an interview with Ebru Africa TV, the lawyer was asked to name her choice if Odinga and Ruto were the only presidential candidates on the ballot.
She says: “I would obviously support Raila. But Raila hasn’t declared."
Karua has maintained that Ruto is not fit to occupy the office of the President.
“I consider Ruto totally unsuitable, and I have my own reasons. His supporters have their own reasons. I also have my right to speak out,” Karua notes.
Karua says she has previously worked with the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader and, although he's not perfect, she would choose him over Ruto any day.
“Nobody is perfect but if you give me the two, I wouldn’t even have to think, I will choose Raila,” she adds.
In an interview with Citizen TV a few weeks ago, Karua said Ruto is unsuitable to be President due to issues surrounding Chapter six of the Constitution on integrity.
“Those are my personal views and there are many issues and some of them involve Chapter 6 of the Constitution,” said Karua, a position she had stated in a tweet earlier.
She tweeted; "I hold the view that @WilliamsRuto is the least qualified for the job and as such would never endorse him. His campaign should desist from dragging my name along."
