Personal Assistant Charged with Stealing Sh245,000 from Partially Blind Rosemary Odinga
Opposition leader Raila Odinga's daughter Rosemary has sued her personal assistant John Oduor for allegedly stealing cash from her.
Oduor is accused of stealing Sh245, 000 from Ms. Odinga's NIC bank account between November 15th, 2018, and February 5th, 2019.
Rosemary, who is partially blind, asked Oduor to help her make a transaction from her bank’s mobile banking application.
However, after the transaction, Oduor reportedly sent money to a Safaricom line registered by his wife without the knowledge of his boss. He later withdrew the cash from a Mpesa agent.
Appearing before Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi, Oduor and his wife Christine Anyango were charged with conspiracy to commit a felony and stealing.
The couple has pleaded not guilty to the charges and has been released on a bond of Sh200, 000 each or alternative cash bail of Sh100, 000 each.
The case will be heard on March 7th, 2019.
Ms. Odinga partially lost her eyesight after she was diagnosed with aneurysms and brain tumor in 2017.
