Kenyan Man Charged with Raping, Impregnating Underage Blind Daughter

A 40-year-old Kenyan man has been arraigned before a Narok court for allegedly raping his underage daughter.
    
The suspect appeared before Narok Senior Principal Magistrate Tito Gesora and was charged with defiling and impregnating his 14-year-old daughter, who is blind.

The man, who is also accused of defiling his 11-year-old daughter, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The accused is said to have committed the crime on November 3rd, 2016 in Suswa, Narok County.

The prosecution has sought orders from the court to allow them to carry out a DNA test on the victim to establish where she is a biological daughter of the accused.

He will also be charged with defiling his other daughter aged 11, the prosecution says. He is accused of raping the 11-year-old after his wife of 17 years fled.

Grace Odembo, an officer at Okoa Sasa, a Mombasa-based girls’ rescue center, says the organization took in the blind girl after she got pregnant in 2016.

Ms. Ogembo has pleaded with the court not to free the suspect on bond.

“We counseled her before she gave birth through a cesarean section at the Aga Khan Hospital,” she says.

The hearing of the first case is set for March 6th.
