Fake President Uhuru Con Suspect Joseph Waswa Claims His Life is in Danger

John Wanjohi Mar 03, 2019

Joseph Waswa, one of the suspects accused of defrauding a Nairobi businessman of Sh10 million while posing as President Kenyatta now claims that his life is in danger.

Addressing journalist in Nairobi on Sunday, Waswa says unknown people have been trailing him to his houses in Tena and Lavington estates.

Waswa, who is a close friend to sacked Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa, believes the men have sinister motives.

He has also threatened to sue The Star and Daily Nation newspapers over articles exposing his flashy lifestyle.

He accuses the two publications of dragging the name of his wife into the saga.

“I will have to file a case on (against) the Star whether they like it or not. You can’t take the picture of my wife and put the paper."

"Nation, the way they covered (the story) the other day they started talking about what I have invested, I don’t know, I used a lot of money to go and pay dowry, they mentioned the name of my wife,” Waswa says.

Waswa, alongside Duncan Muchai, Isaac Wanyonyi, William Simiyu, David Luganya, Gilbert Kirunja, and Anthony Wafula are accused of fraudulently obtaining Sh10 million from Sameer Group chairman Naushad Merali. The allegedly mimicked President Kenyatta's voice to defraud the trader.

They are also linked to the fake Sh32 billion currencies and gold seized last week in Ruiru, Kiambu County.

The seven accused persons pleaded not guilty to the charges and were released on a cash bail of Sh100, 000 each by a Nairobi court last Wednesday.
