Sonko's Cabinet Nominee Sonia Birdi Defends Her D+ KCSE Grade

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko's nominee for the Environment docket, Sonia Birdi, has defended her poor Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) grade.

Speaking during a vetting exercise by a Nairobi County Assembly Committee, Ms. Birdi says her D+ KCSE mean grade should not be used to shoot down her appointment by Governor Sonko.

Ms. Birdi argues that the poor grade does not mean she's is a failure, stating that she is committed to serving Nairobi residents.

"That D+ in my paper is not a failure but what I am bringing on the table."

"If I was not positive on the change I want to make, I wouldn't have applied for the position," states Birdi who sat for her KCSE exam at Loreto Convent, Msongari.

The former United Republican Party (URP) nominated MP was put to task to explain how she would perform her duties given that she has no experience in environmental matters.

Birdi reportedly holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from D. R. College in India and a second undergraduate degree in Business Administration from the University of Sheffield in the UK.

She however did not provide her bachelor's degree, explaining that she lost the papers after her house was burgled while living in the UK.

She told the team that she is still single because no man has proposed to marry her.

She has promised to clean up Nairobi city if approved to take up the position.
