Give Prophet David Owuor a Break, I'm His Follower - MP Babu Owino Says
Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino has led two other colleagues in telling off the media over attacks on self-proclaimed prophet David Owour.
Speaking during a press briefing at Parliament buildings, Babu has accused the media of unfairly targeting the church and clergymen.
Babu was flanked by Igembe South MP John Paul Mwirigi and Nominated MP Gideon Keter.
The three MPs have further dismissed suggestions that all preachers must hold a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree.
“Some people want to ground the church, those who are saying pastors should have a degree are wrong,” says MP Keter.
On his part, MP Owino says he's a follower of Prophet Owuor, and has asked the media and other critics to give the man of God a break.
“We will pray and forgive those fighting the church,” says Owino.
“Mimi ni mtoto wa misa and I encourage Prophet Owuor to continue serving the flock,” he adds.
Prophet Owuor has hit media headlines in recent weeks over a suspected fraud case involving properties estimated to be worth more than Sh1 billion.
Police are investigating claims that Owuor forcefully took over the two residential properties located in Westlands, Nairobi
The two properties belong to one of his follower identified as Jayne Muthoni and are approximated to be worth over Sh1.5 billion.
Owuor has allegedly been using proceeds acquired from the two properties to finance his flashy lifestyle.
