Narobi Lawyer Assa Nyakundi Hospitalized Hours After Allegedly Accidentally Killing Son
Nairobi lawyer Assa Nyakundi has been hospitalized hours after shooting and killing his 29-year-old son in what he claims was an accident.
Citizen Digital reports that Nyakundi was rushed to the Nairobi Hospital on Sunday night after developing shock symptoms while at the Muthaiga Police Station.
The advocate had been detained on Sunday afternoon for questioning on the fatal shooting.
He was set to be arraigned in court on Monday on a miscellaneous application for police to request for more time to complete investigations into the incident.
Nyakundi says they were in the car when he shot his son on the chest. He immediately rushed him to Aga Khan Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
He told police that they were heading home from ICC Church on Mombasa Road on Sunday afternoon.
As he approached his home in Muthaiga North, he reached for his pistol to holster it but accidentally pulled the trigger shooting his son who was on the back seat.
Police have confiscated the firearm, which had 14 rounds of ammunition.
“The reportee who is a civilian firearm holder has been detained to assist in further investigations. The said firearm loaded with 14 rounds of 9mm and the m/v has been kept as exhibits,” police say.
The body of the deceased was moved to Aga Khan Mortuary awaiting postmortem.
