New Ekeza Sacco Officials Demand Apology from Bishop David Gakuyo for Lying to Members
The new Ekeza Sacco officials have asked former Chairman and founder Bishop David Kariuki Ngare alias Gakuyo to apologize for lying to members.
In a statement sent to newsrooms, the society's new management says Gakuyo must tender an apology for misleading members to believe that he would invest their savings but instead embezzled them.
The new team has expressed its disappointment with Gakuyo over gross misconduct and abuse of office.
“Even after trusting in him with their hard earned savings, he ended up betraying them using their money to enrich himself by buying expensive and luxurious vehicles, palatial homes etc,” the statement reads.
They have also rubbished claims that Gakuyo is set to bring a foreign investor to the Sacco, stating that he is no longer allowed to transact any business on behalf of the society.
“Mr. Kariuki is not in a position to negotiate on behalf of the Ekeza Sacco Society and if there is an intention to bring an investor, we should be informed. Currently, we treat it as propaganda to mislead members,” the statement adds.
The team also says it has taken full control of the office and the Sacco’s bank accounts.
The management has also urged members with pending loans to continue servicing them in either of the Nairobi, Kiambu, Nakuru, Nyeri, Nanyuki and Rongai branches.
Gakuyo is accused of embezzling Sh1.5 billion from the Sacco's members.
