Excitement as Chinese Company Donates Alcohol to Starving Baringo Residents [PHOTOS]
A Chinese company has left residents of Katikit location in Baringo County excited after donating several cartons of alcohol to starving locals.
Chuanshan International Mining Company also donated food items including 300 bags of maize and cooking oil to the residents, who are grappling with severe hunger as a result of a drought.
Locals cheered and clapped after the company's staff announced that beer was part of the donation.
Chuanshan International director Han Ke says their decision to donate alcohol was because members of the Pokot community "love liquor."
"Locals in this area love liquor and I saw it fit to include it as part of food donation to the hunger-ravaged villages," says Ke adding that they wanted to “simplify life” for residents.
The company is scheduled to start mining diatomite at Katikit in Tiaty Constituency.
Area MP William Kamket was present during the donation.
