A 30-year-old Kenyan woman has survived after she was stabbed severally by her husband in Nyeri County.

Peninah Wangechi is currently receiving treatment at the Karatina Hospital after she was stabbed 17 times during a domestic quarrel with her spouse.

Speaking from the hospital bed, the mother of three says she was involved in a scuffle with her husband, Samuel Ndirangu before he stabbed her 17 times on her back, chest, and face using a knife.

Ms. Wangechi says they have been having constant quarrels and Ndirangu has been physically abusing her.

Karatina Sub-county Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr. Benson Ngari says the woman's condition is stable.

Dr. Ngari says the victim had bled a lot by the time she was brought to the hospital but the knife wounds were fortunately not as deep.

The suspect has since surrendered himself to police and has been detained at Karatina Police station as investigations continue.
