Suspect in University Student Ivy Wangechi’s Murder Detained for 14 Days
The court has allowed police to detain murder suspect Naftali Kinuthia for 14 days pending the conclusion of investigations into the killing of Moi University medical student Ivy Wangechi.
Kinuthia, 28, has been arraigned in an Eldoret court on Monday where the prosecution has requested to detain him for more days as they complete investigations into Ivy's murder.
The court has directed that the suspect is detained at Nauberi Police Station in Eldoret.
The judge has also directed he be allowed to receive treatment at the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) during the period he will be in police cells.
Kinuthia sustained serious injuries after he was roughed up by angry mob moments after hacking Ms. Wangechi to death outside MTRH last week in an alleged case of love gone sour.
The case will be mentioned on April 30th, 2019.
Wangechi will be laid to rest on Thursday this week at her family’s rural home in Mahiga, Nyeri County.
