OCS Kills Himself After Shooting Girlfriend Dead at Mombasa Nightclub

A senior police officer in Mombasa has shot dead his girlfriend before turning the gun on himself following a quarrel at an entertainment joint on Thursday night.

Likoni Deputy Officer Commanding Station (OCS) Joab Omondi allegedly shot the woman, who works as a barmaid, at Lovely Bar in Mtongwe, Mombasa.

Omondi reportedly shot the bar attendant in the head following an altercation at the nightclub. The 25-year-old woman has been identified as Peninah Kaimenyi.

Likoni OCPD Benjamin Rotich says Omondi used a Ceska pistol which was found at the scene with 11 bullets.

Omondi and Ms. Kaimenyi are said to have arrived at the joint at 10 pm before ordering drinks but later disagreed over an unknown matter.

The woman was rushed to the Coast Provincial General Hospital for treatment but she succumbed to the bullet injuries.

The bodies have since been moved to the Coastal Strip hospital mortuary as investigations into the incident commenced.
