Murang'a Woman, 47, Hacks Husband to Death, Sets His Body on Fire
Police in Murang’a are holding a 47-year-old woman in connection with the brutal killing of her husband.
The woman is said to have hacked his spouse to death using a machete after a domestic dispute before setting his body on fire.
She also attempted to bury the deceased remains outside their home in Good Samaritan village, Gatanga on Saturday morning.
Murang’a County police commander Josphat Kinyua says the woman was arrested alongside her three teenage children, who are suspected to have helped their mother commit the crime.
Speaking to the Daily Nation, James Ndirangu, a brother of the deceased, says he was attracted to his brother's home by huge smoke only to find the suspect preparing to bury her husband.
“I had just woken up when I saw huge flames at my brother’s home. I approached and found his wife digging a hole and she told me she was burning old rugs."
“I was not satisfied with the answer and pretended to go back to my house. I looked back and saw her dragging a body,” he says.
Ndirangu immediately alerted neighbors who found a partly burnt body of his brother on arrival.
Police have launched investigations into the man's killing.
