DP William Ruto Denies Profiling Luo Community as Controversial Video Goes Viral
Deputy President William Ruto has denied claims of profiling the Luo community after a controversial video surfaced on social media.
A section of Kenyans online and leaders have accused Ruto of spouting hatred against Luos after the recording went viral.
"Kwani hawa watu wanatuambia saa hii stori mingi hatuwajui, si tunawajua?. Ni watu ya kubomoa, kama hawabomoi chama, wanabomoa nyumba, kama hawabomoi nyumba wanang'oa reli, kama hawangoi reli, wana tenganisha marafiki….. sasa hii watu ambao tunawaelewa we are entertaining them for what purpose," Ruto poses in the video taken recently.
In a statement, Ruto says his sentiments as captured in the recording have been blown out of context by those trying to win support “through desperate and alarmist misinformation.”
“We expect more sober and responsible interpretation and analysis of events and issues. The propagators of the anti-Ruto spin are blinded with desperation to the point that they cannot realize that they are the ones profiling a whole community,” Ruto explains.
“Unless you’re telling me being Luo is equivalent to uprooting the railway, something I totally disagree with,” he adds.
