KDF Soldier Goes Berserk, Shoots Girlfriend and Two Relatives Before Killing Himself

A Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) soldier reportedly killed himself on Tuesday after shooting dead three people in Jua Kali area in the outskirts of Eldoret town.

The officer named Haron Tiony shot dead two relatives and his girlfriend before turning the gun on himself on Tuesday morning, Daily Nation reports.

The military officer is said to have quarreled with his girlfriend, Dorcas Lorinyo, who had allegedly taken refuge at his aunt’s house.

The soldier went ahead to shoot Lorinyo, his aunt Rose Sang, 60, and his uncle Benard Muge before killing himself.

Tiony had allegedly been on a drinking spree on Monday night before arriving at the homestead at around 5:30 am. 

Confirming the incident, Eldoret West OCPD Zachariah Bitok says investigations are underway to establish the motive of the killings.

The soldier is reportedly attached to military intelligence and is based at Lanet Barracks in Nakuru.
