Lazurus Amayo Appointed as the New Kenyan Envoy to the US as Current Ambassador Githae Moves to Vienna

President Kenyatta has appointed 18 new Kenyan Ambassadors and High Commissioners to various countries.

The latest appointments have been revealed in a statement sent to the press by Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Amb. Monica Juma.

Lazurus Ombai Amayo, who has been serving as the United Nations Permanent Representative (New York) has been appointed as the new Kenyan Ambassador to the United States (Washington).

Amayo replaces Robinson Njeru Githae, who has been moved to Vienna (Austria) to replace Hassan Wario, who has been dropped.

Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) deputy CEO Micheal Mubea has been named the new Kenyan Ambassador in Dublin (Republic of Ireland).

Kariuki Mugwe has been posted to Abu Dhabi (UAE) Peter Katana Angore heads to Algiers (Algeria) while Barine Mugendi will represent Kenya in Accra (Ghana).

Andrew Kihurani has been appointed Kenya's new envoy to Switzerland; Lamarron Ole Kaanto heads Berlin (Germany), Purity Muhindi to Dakar (Senegal) while John Mwangemi has been named the new envoy to Djibouti.

Others include Mwendwa Musembi (Dubai), Njeri Karago (Los Angeles), Flora Karagu (Lusaka), Richard Opombe (Madrid) and Jackline Yonga to (Rome), Mwende Mwinzi (Seoul), Diana Kiambuthi (Stockholm) and Njambi Kinyungu (UN-Habitat).

“I congratulate each one of them for the honor bestowed upon them…… to serve our motherland, welcome those joining the ministry and wish the Ambassadors/High Commissioners designate good luck in the vetting process,” Juma says in a statement.

The appointments are subject to vetting and approval by Parliament.
