US Backs Kenya's DCI George Kinoti to Nail Big Fish in Graft Purge

John Wanjohi May 17, 2019

The United States has urged Kenya's Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) George Kinoti to go after big fish accused of engaging in corruption.

Ambassador Kyle McCarter has assured Kinoti of US's 100 percent support in his efforts in the war against graft.

The American envoy has called on Kinoti to take the war on graft a notch higher by nailing senior government officials implicated in corruption scandals.

McCarter assured Kenya of the US support in the fight against corruption following meetings with Kinoti and Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji on Thursday.

"Let’s pray that the DCI can catch the big fish and make an example of how thievery will not be tolerated in Kenya. USA is backing you 100%," McCarter states.

Since Kinoti's appointment last year, several graft suspects including Governors and heads of State agencies have been arrested and charged.

Unlike his predecessor Ndegwa Muhoro, Kinoti has been hailed for taking criminals head-on.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has become one of the most active departments under Kinoti's leadership.
