Kenyan Officials Off to Washington to Seek US Help in War on Graft, Money Laundering

The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji will this weekend lead a delegation of Kenyan prosecutors and top detectives to the United States.

During the trip, the Kenyan team will seek President Trump administration's help in the war against corruption, drug, and human trafficking, as well as money laundering.

The Standard reports that Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) George Kinoti will be part of the delegation.

The visit to the US follows similar trips to Jersey and the United Kingdom as the DPP and DCI continue to seek international assistance to bust corrupt networks and recover looted cash stashed abroad.

During the three-day visit, Haji and Kinoti will hold a series of meetings with the US Attorney-General William Barr and Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) director, Christopher Wray among others.

“We will be discussing many issues including graft. You know the FBI is under AG’s office in the US and we are scheduled to meet top detectives there to share various issues,” said Haji.

Also in the delegation are officials from Kenya's Assets Recovery Agency (ARA).
