Activist Boniface Mwangi Blocks VIP Convoy Driving on the Wrong Side of City Road [VIDEO]
Kenyans online have praised activist Boniface Mwangi after he refused to give way to a VIP convoy driving on the wrong side of the road.
On Monday morning, Mwangi shared a video showing a three-car entourage driving towards oncoming traffic.
Other motorists gave way for the VIP motorcade but the photojournalist refused, insisting that they were breaking the law by driving on the right-hand side of the one-way road.
“Why are you driving on the wrong side? I’m not going to move,” Mwangi told a bodyguard who had alighted to clear the way.
"Obey the law, shame on you," he added.
Mwangi said only ambulances and fire engines should be allowed to drive on the wrong side.
I only give way to ambulances and fire engines. I block entitled civil servants and politicians who love to use sirens to avoid traffic. As a taxpayer, l expect the people in this big cars to follow the law and work towards solving the perennial traffic jams. @NPSOfficial_KE pic.twitter.com/HIJDKEVbB4

The motorcade was forced to drive off using the adjacent lane after Mwangi stood his ground.
In a similar incident in 2016, Mwangi forced the driver of a Member of Parliament to reverse and follow traffic.
