Eight Suspects Arrested for Allegedly Operating Illegal Alcohol Brewing Plant in Nairobi

Detectives from the Special Crimes Prevention Unit (SCPU) on Saturday apprehended eight suspects for allegedly operating an illegal alcohol brewing plant in Nairobi.

The suspects were arrested at the brewing and processing plant located in Nairobi's Dandora Estate.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said the eight were nabbed following a tip-off from members of the public.

During the operation, police confiscated 181 boxes each containing 20 bottles of 250ml Star spirit, 42 boxes of Blue Ice vodka, empty plastics, and Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) stickers.

The eight were identified as Stephen Wambugu, David Chui, Salome Wanjiru, Wilikister Kemunto, John Mwangi, Daniel Maigwa, Zacharia Macharia, and Peter Maina.

Detectives launched hunt for the owner of the illegal brewing plant, who is still at large. The suspects will be arraigned in court on Monday.
