MP Moses Kuria Urges President Uhuru to Disband Cabinet

John Wanjohi Jul 01, 2019

Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has urged President Kenyatta to dissolve the Cabinet over alleged division.

Speaking during an interview with KTN News, Kuria said the alleged plot to assassinate Deputy President William Ruto exposed the rift in Kenyatta's Cabinet.

Four Cabinet Secretaries including Peter Munya (Trade), Joe Mucheru (ICT), Sicily Kariuki (Health) and James Macharia (Transport) were mentioned in the alleged scheme to eliminate Ruto.

“It will be almost impossible for the President to implement government programs while his Cabinet is divided,” said Kuria.

“The Cabinet is the national face of Kenya. How will the President conduct Cabinet meetings amid divisions? The only permanent panacea is to disband the Cabinet,” he added.

While appearing at Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters last week, the four CSs distanced themselves from the alleged plot to kill Ruto.

They are alleged to have been part of a group that met at La Mada Hotel along Thika Road to plan Ruto's assassination.

While admitting to attending the said meetings, the four said talks only focused on development in Mt. Kenya region.

“We have made it clear that at no time have we ever met anywhere to plan to kill the DP or any other person for that matter," said CS Munya.

“I think it is irresponsible, unfair and it is intended to portray us in a very bad light so as to look like criminals who meet to plot criminal activities,” he added.
