Body Falls Off London-Bound Kenya Airways Flight Minutes Before Landing
Police in the United Kingdom are investigating an incident where a body dropped off a London-bound Kenya Airways flight on Sunday.
The body reportedly fell off the undercarriage of the aircraft minutes before landing at London's Heathrow Airport from Nairobi.
In a statement on Monday, KQ said the body of the unidentified male stowaway fell in a garden in the Borough of Lambeth, South London.
London’s Metropolitan Police tracked the flight radar to KQ Flight 100 after the owner of the garden reported the incident.
Upon the flight's inspection, a bag with some food and clothing was found at the rear left landing gear.
“The incident has been treated as sudden death and is now a police matter. The police have already been in contact with the Kenya High Commission to help identify and name the person,” Kenya Airways said.
The aircraft was cleared for operation after an inspection revealed there was no damage.
“The 6,840km flight takes 8hrs 50mins. It is unfortunate that a person has lost his life by stowing aboard one of our aircraft and we express our condolences,” read the statement.
“Kenya Airways is working closely with the relevant authorities in Nairobi and London as they fully investigate this case.”
