I’m No Longer Anne Waiguru: Kirinyaga Governor Divulges Her New Name
Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru says she dropped her previous surname (Waiguru) following her marriage to Nairobi lawyer Kamotho Waiganjo.
Kamotho and Waiguru exchanged marriage vows in a lavish Kikuyu traditional ceremony held in Gichugu, Kirinyaga County on July 13th.
Addressing journalists in Nairobi on Tuesday after the Supreme Court dismissed a petition challenging her election; Governor Waiguru said she would like to be referred as Mumbi, Anne Mumbi or Anne Mumbi Kamotho.
“You can call me Mumbi, Anne Mumbi, Anne Mumbi Kamotho, minji minji is also fine,” she divulged.
Governor Mumbi said she would soon issue an official statement addressing the confusion surrounding her surname. She was previously married to Tony Waiguru and had retained the surname even after they got divorced.
