Dead MCA Listed Among 42 Ward Reps. Who Pocketed Sh8 Million from Fictional Foreign Trip
Investigations into the alleged non-existent foreign trip by 42 MCAs from Siaya County, where each pocketed Sh200,000 has taken a new twist.
The Ward Representatives are accused of pocketing the amount from Siaya County Assembly coffers for a foreign trip to Uganda that never happened.
Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) detectives probing the matter have reportedly established that an MCA who passed away in 2018 was among those in the alleged stage-managed trip to Jinja, Uganda, on February 2019, according to Daily Nation.
Joanes Andiego Odongo, who was the Central Sakwa MCA and Majority Whip at the Assembly, died on May 17th, 2018 after a long battle with liver and kidney complications.
The MCAs are alleged to have taken their passports for stamping at the Busia border in order to get the pay but never went to Uganda for the trip.
EACC will begin questioning each of the MCAs over the matter starting August 12th.
