I Will Run for President in 2022, Makueni Governor Prof. Kivutha Kibwana Declares

Makueni Governor Prof. Kivutha Kibwana says his name will be on the presidential ballot in the 2022 general elections.

Speaking in Turkana during the fifth Annual Tobong’ulore Festival, Governor Kivutha said he joined the race to succeed President Kenyatta after pressure from many Kenyans.

“Walisahau kuweka picha yangu huko kwa presidential aspirants kwa sababu hata mimi nilisema mwezi huu kuwa hata mimi nitakuwa katika kinyang’anyiro… I will be on the ballot,” Kibwana said.

Kibwana also warned leaders against downplaying Deputy President William Ruto’s 2022 presidential bid, stating that he is a frontrunner.

“Those who take you for granted and think that you do not matter are very wrong. Yes, they are very wrong and I can say that boldly because I am a constitutional political analyst and a politician for that matter. I know your capability,” Kibwana told Ruto, who also attended the function.

Kibwana had earlier announced he would retire from politics at the end of his current term in 2022.
