‘Ni Noma, Hizo Simu Zilizimwa’, Uhuru Warns Corrupt Public Officers
President Kenyatta has hinted at more arrest and prosecution of corrupt public officials in the coming days.
Speaking when he flagged off Kenya’s first crude oil shipment at the port of Mombasa on Monday, Kenyatta said it is no longer business as usual as far as graft purge is concerned.
President Kenyatta said no one will save corrupt officials from arrest adding that agencies mandated to fight corruption are on high alert.
“These guys (detectives) have decided it’s do or die. When they catch up with you, just know I don’t give instructions to them. It is you who has been caught on the wrong. We will only read it in the newspapers that you have been nabbed. So wherever you are, keep your eyes open and be very careful with what you do,” said Kenyatta.
He added: “Right now, there is no making calls saying you are in trouble and pleading for help, carry own cross.”
"The culture of calling for help is no more, it will be upon you to defend yourself. Ni noma, hizo simu zilizimwa (Things are thick. Those phones were switched off.)"
