Former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo Reacts to Letter Linking Him to Akashas Drugs Case

Former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo has called for the arrest of suspects who authored a fake letter listing prominent Kenyan persons who are allegedly wanted by Interpol and US authorities in connection with drug trafficking.

This comes hours after Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji denounced the letter that was circulated on social media this week.

The letter purported to have been sent to DPP from Interpol claimed that Kabogo, Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika, and eight others were supposedly wanted for prosecution in relations to confessions made by Akasha brothers; Baktash and Ibrahim.
 

"The above named have pled guilty to six counts of criminal conduct including distribution and sale of Class A and Class B substances namely heroin, cocaine and methamphetamines and the sale, distribution, and use of illegal firearms," read part of the letter.

In a statement on Friday, the office of the DPP stated: "The DPP Noordin Haji has not received the following letter circulating on social media purported to have been written by Interpol containing a list of wanted Kenyans for adversely being mentioned in the Akashas' drug case." 

Reacting to DPP’s statement, Kabogo demanded arrest of those behind the fake document and threatened to take action if nothing is done.

"Dismissing is not enough. It’s criminal to distribute such material. CALL FOR THE ARREST OF THOSE INVOLVED.”

“That’s what happens in countries that are guided by the rule of law. And if not let us know so we/and or I can defend myself as in the rule of the jungle," Kabogo warned.
