AFRIMMA Awards in Dallas, TX: Kenya's Akothee Named Best Female Artiste in EA
Kenyan singer Esther Akoth, alias Akothee, was on Saturday crowned Best Female musician in East Africa at the African Muzik Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA) 2019 held in Dallas, Texas.
Akothee beat Tanzania’s Vanessa Mdee and Nandy as well as compatriots Victoria Kimani and Fena Gitu among others to scoop the award.
Speaking at the awarding ceremony, Ms. Akothee thanked her fans and dedicated the award to all single mothers across the world.
"Am gonna accept this award, thank you so much AFRIMMA, thank you so much my fans," she said.
"For all the women in the house, there is power in believing in yourself, I don't care what you want to think about me because definitely I know what I think about myself and that's why I am here today."
"There is power in uniqueness, there is beauty in being unique," she advised.
Kenya’s Mzazi Willy M. Tuva was named Africa's best radio and TV presenter during the annual ceremony.
Omy Dimpoz of Tanzania trounced compatriots Diamond Platnumz, Ali Kiba and Ravvany as wells as Kenya’s Nyanshinski and Kaligraph Jones among others to win the East African Artiste of the year award.
Togo music group, Toofan floored Sauti Sol of Kenya to scoop the Best African Music Group of the year award.
