Sharon Otieno Murder Case: 30 Witnesses Lined Up to Testify against Governor Okoth Obado
30 witnesses are set to testify against Migori Governor Okoth Obado in a case where he is charged with the murder of Rongo University student, Sharon Otieno.
The hearing of the case has been scheduled for December 2nd and 3rd this year. The prosecution said the 30 witnesses include two protected witnesses.
In the case, Obado is charged alongside his former personal assistant Michael Oyamo and Casper Obiero, a clerk in Migori County.
In September last year, the three denied killing Sharon and her seven-month unborn baby before Judge Jessie Lesiit.
Obado was released on a cash bail of Sh5 million while Mr. Obiero and Mr. Oyamo were freed on a cash bail of Sh1 million each or an alternative bond of Sh2 million each.
26-year-old Sharon disappeared on September 3rd, 2018 after a meeting with a Nation media journalist in Migori town. The student was found dead near Kodera Forest in Homa Bay County two days later.
Governor Obado later revealed that he had been in a love affair with Sharon, who was seven months pregnant at the time of her gruesome murder. A post-mortem carried out on her body revealed she was stabbed eight times, strangled and raped.
