The Canadian government on Tuesday, October 30th issued 3,900 Express Entry candidates with Invitations to Apply (ITAs) for permanent residence.

The minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) for the October 30th draw was 475.

The new drawing brings in the total ITAs issued by Canada through the Express Entry system in 2019 to 71,700. The government has targeted 84,400 ITAs for 2019. Last year, a total of 89,800 ITAs were issued through the Express Entry system.

The Express Express program allows foreign nationals to enter the drawing in hopes of being selected and invited to apply for permanent residence in Canada. Foreigners participating in the Express Entry draw are ranked based on the CRS score, which is based on factors such as the applicant’s age, education, skills level, work experience, proficiency in English or French, family ties to Canada, among others.

In order to qualify for the Express Entry pool, candidates must first meet the eligibility requirements for one of Canada’s three Federal High Skilled Economic-class immigration categories - the Federal Killed Worker Class, Federal Skilled Trades Class, and Canadian Experience Class.

The best candidates are selected from a pool of entrants, through a drawing held about every two weeks. Those selected are issued an Invitation to Apply (ITA), which gives them a go-ahead to apply for permanent residence along with their qualifying relatives - spouses and dependent children.
