US Couple Named World’s Oldest Living Man and Wife

An American man and his wife have been named the world’s oldest living couple by Guinness World Records.

John Henderson, 106, and Charlotte, 105, of Austin, Texas have a combined age of 211 years and are set to celebrate their 80th marriage anniversary next month.

The couple met at The University of Texas in 1934 where Charlotte was pursuing teaching while John played in the football team, according to CNN.

They tied the knot in 1939 and spent their honeymoon at a hotel room where they accrued a bill of a meager $7.

Presently, the couple resides at a senior living community – Longhorn Village – associated with a University of Texas alumni group.

John, who still exercises every day, says the secret to a happy marriage is, “Live life in moderation and be cordial to your spouse.”
