DP Ruto’s Daughter among Top Performers in 2019 KCPE

John Wanjohi Nov 18, 2019

Deputy President William Ruto's daughter, Abby is among the top performers in the 2019 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE).

Abby, who was sired out of wedlock, is among 9,770 candidates who scored more than 400 marks in the exams whose results were released by Education Cabinet Secretary Prof. George Magoha on Monday.

Taking to Facebook after the release of the results, Abby's mother, Prisca Chemutai Bett indicated that her daughter scored 406 marks out of possible 500 marks.

"God you are Ebenezer, you Grace is sufficient! 406 it is...Glory to God," she joyfully posted on Facebook.

Ms. Bett grabbed media headlines in early 2017 after she sued DP Ruto for child maintenance for their daughter who was then aged 11.

At the time, Ruto came out to publicly admit to siring the girl in 2006 and dismissed her mother’s allegations that he had avoided his parental obligations.

"My 11-year-old child Abby is well catered for including her education in a private boarding school. Politicians & Busybodies should keep off,” Ruto said on social media.

He added: “For the record I did find Abby's mother a 90k-a-month job, 40k monthly upkeep ever since. She went ahead to get her own 3 other kids though. The other father/s should be men enough and look after their kids. Trying blackmail for me to cater for other men's children won't work."

Andy Michael Munyiri from Thogoto was named the top candidate with 440 marks, followed by the Flavian Onyango (Chakol Girls), June Cheptoo Koech (Sangalo Central) and Sean Michael Ndung’u (Kitengela International School) with 439 marks each.
